What was the client’s vision they needed help with?
Our clients had an old Skyline Garage that needed replacing. They needed more Space for Life and they wanted to add an apartment above the garage for extended family in Australia to come and stay. Due to the location of the property with beach access and lovely forest adjacent to the property, the client could see the potential to create a 2nd income and wanted to be able to rent out the property for short term rental.
What was the process we took to solve it?
The Clients visited several projects that we had in progress and from these excursions, they decided upon a variation of a loft garage that we had built in Piha to be ideal for their needs.
For this site due to its proximity to the forest, we needed to do a topographic survey, which is a survey locating topographic features – natural and man-made, such as buildings, improvements, fences, elevations, trees, streams, contours of the land, etc. We then progressed with the design development, obtained a geotech report and then building consent plans, specifications and lodgement. Last but not least we completed the building. It was a complete service from start to finish.
What was the end result?
Our Clients are thrilled with the outcome. It’s provided them with the well needed extra space. They also managed to sell their old skyline garage on Trade Me. The current building is more aesthetically pleasing and matches well with their existing property. By being able to provide accommodation for extended family they are keeping family close and still are in the position to earn some extra income from the property as it is now listed on Airbnb.
